Smilla Veterinary Diet Urinary is a complete grain-free dietary food specially developed for cats with a tendency to struvite stones. Struvite stones are often caused by a concentration of minerals in the urine. This can lead to inflammation of the urethra and bladder. Subsequently, the urethra can also become blocked in male cats, leading to a medical emergency.Symptoms include frequent urination in small amounts, sometimes with vocalisation or urinating outside the litter tray, uncleanliness, bloody urine and an increased "urge to clean" the genitals. The balanced mineral ratio in this food brings the pH value of the urine into the slightly acidic range. This uric acidifying property of the food can help to prevent the formation of new struvite.

Smilla Veterinary Diet Renal is a complete dietary food to support the kidney function of cats with chronic renal failure.
In the case of renal insufficiency, the nephrons of the kidney are irreversibly damaged, and the still intact nephrons have to take over the function. In order to relieve this, it is important to provide the body with low but very high-quality protein, and a low phosphorus content is also essential.
For this reason, the protein and phosphorus content of Smilla Veterinary Diet Renal has been reduced. However, the animal protein sources contained are sufficient to fulfil the protein requirement. This food also contains easy to digest potatoes as a source of carbohydrates.
The content is free from grain.
